Under 18.5 Girls

Pictured is our 2020 Under 18.5 Girls coach, Greg O’Toole.

The upcoming season will be the second season for Greg in charge of these girls, leading them to a Preliminary final last season. Greg and his team will be aiming to go one better this season and build on the foundations set last season. 

How long have you been coaching for/Previous coaching experience?

I have played and coached footy for 30 years, I coached my first side when I was playing U18’s

As a coach, what values do you have for your team?

Our values are effort, workrate, commitment, honesty to name a few

What is the most rewarding part of being a coach?

Most rewarding part is watching players grow and use the footy and life skills the coaching staff have taught

What is one of the most important qualities to have as a coach & why?

Most important quality is to listen to your players, understand them as people and communicate well.

Favourite AFL Team & Favourite player?

My team is St Kilda, my all-time favourite player is Wayne Carey

Earliest Footy memory?

Earliest footy memory is playing in the snow at Ballarat as a junior

What’s something that not many people know about you?

People may not know I Captain/Coached an A Grade cricket side to a premiership at Caroline Springs Cricket Club 6 years ago.

What was the last thing you googled?

Probably UFC, I love it!

What were you like in school?

I was no good at school, just wanted to play sport

What job would you be terrible at?

I would be no good at being a Copper, I wouldn’t have the patience to deal with the idiots who break the law. (My daughter is joining the Police force!).

Do you have a secret talent? If so, what is it?

My secret talent – Convincing my wife I love her cooking!

Goals you have for the upcoming season?

Goals for season – To continue to develop the skills and understanding of the game to my players.
