Ben Plonsker, 2020 Under 12B Coach Today we start with our U12 coaching team.
Introducing Ben Plonsker also known as Tink.
Ben will be coaching our B side. How long have you been involved with CSFC?
This will be my second season with CSFC. Previous Coaching experience?
I have coached U9’s & U11’s at Burnside Bears.
Assistant Coach of the Inaugural Burnside Bears Senior Women’s side in 2018 Goals you hope to achieve in 2020?
Main goal is to make sure that the kids have fun and enjoy their footy whilst developing as players and people. Football is about more than just kicking goals, so it is also my aim to help the kids with Sportsmanship, Teamwork and Respect among many other areas that will hopefully have them heading in the right direction in years to come.

Favourite AFL team? Essendon

Favourite AFL players? Past – James Hird and Current – Michael Hurley

What do you love the most about coaching?
Being able to help kids do what they love and get better at it. It’s not always an easy gig but seeing kids develop and the joy that it brings to them and their parents brings an amazing level of satisfaction and makes it all worthwile. How do you motivate your team before a game?
Start with the old John Kennedy “Don’t think, do” type speech lol, nah I don’t really rant and rave, but I paint the picture that something is out on the ground that both teams want. Whoever wants it bad enough will go and get it but even if you don’t get it make sure you gave maximum effort trying! The game is the reward for the training during the week so make sure you make the most of it. Maximum Effort, Fun & Teamwork. The scoreboard will take care of itself. What is your go to message when a game is on the line?
I start with letting the kids know that win lose or draw as long as they give it their best, their friends and family will be proud because they will be nervous enough without me adding to it. But I would also make it very clear that I believe they can do almost anything as a team if everyone gives it their all and plays their role.
